چکیده

We present a procedure to obtain electron attachment and ionization rates in a pulsed Townsend experiment. Temporal drift currents for electrons and ions are analyzed using electron and ion current models. Measurements are performed in a highly automated pulsed Townsend setup in CO2 to determine electron attachment and ionization rates as well as ion drift velocities of positive and negative ions for different reduced electric field strengths.

Pulsed Townsend Technique in Electronegative Gases

The identification of alternatives to SF6 requires a study of the effective coefficient of electron attachment to electronegative gases and gas mixtures. One well established method for obtaining the attachment coefficient is the determination of swarm parameters using the pulsed Townsend discharge (PTD). From theoretical considerations and finite element calculations design guidelines for a PT...

ELECTRON ATTACHING PROPERTIES OF c-C4F8O DERIVED FROM SWARM PARAMETER MEASUREMENTS IN BUFFER GASES

Using the pulsed Townsend method the electron swarm parameters have been measured for c-C4F8O in buffer gases Ar, N2 or CO2 with mixing ratios ≤ 1.2%. The measurements were performed in a novel Pulsed Townsend experiment [1] that can operate with a high degree of automation. The evaluated parameters presented here are the effective ionization rate, the critical field strength and the electron a...

Ortho-phenylenediamine Based Bis-ureas as the Ion Selective Sensors; A QM/MD Study

Density functional theory dispersion corrected (DFT-D3)calculations and molecular dynamic (MD) simulation were applied to investigate the sensing ability of four types of receptors (RCs) composed of the ortho-phenylenediamine based bis-ureas for selective complexation with the anions such as Cl–, Br–, OAC–, PhCO2–, H2PO4– and HSO4– in the gas phase and DMSO. On the basis of the data obtained fr...

Derivation of ionization energy and electron affinity equations using chemical hardness and absolute electronegativity in isoelectronic series

Chemical hardness () and absolute electronegativity () have important applications in chemistry. Inthe conceptual Density Functional theory (DFT), these concepts has been associated with electronicenergy and the relationship with ionization energy (I) and electron affinity (A) of these concepts hasbeen given. In this study, graphical method was used in order to see the relationship with the ato...
